My dad always said if there’s a line outside the place must be good. And, that’s definitely true about Nathaniel Reid Bakery in Kirkwood, Missouri.
At the helm is Reid who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris in Culinary and Pastry Arts. He’s actually taught top pastry chefs throughout the world including Norman Love Confections in Fort Myers.
His speciality: contemporary and traditional baked goods with perfected European techniques.
When you walk into the bakery, your senses take over. There are savory items like a Turkey Sandwich, Waldorf Chicken Salad, Roast Beef Sandwich with roast beef, white cheddar, red onion, lettuce, horseradish aioli on a poppy seed challah (my favorite), Prosciutto; Quiches and Salads.
The next two counters are pictured above. The selection is amazing from Lemon cream, pain de genes, meringue to the Amber, a Sable Breton, pecan caramel, salted caramel mousse. Certain cakes are made in 6 inches or larger. There is also a whole list of Macarons. The last counter is my absolute favorite filled with Flakey and Buttery Croissants, Orange Moelleux, and the Kouign-Amann made with sugared, dough.
Nathaniel Reid is located at 11243 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, Missouri 63132. Contact@nrbakery.com. Open Tuesday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.
