Smoke meets fire at Taverna Wood Fire Kitchen in Cape Coral.
We started with Smoked Grilled Octopus. It’s award-winning for taste and presentation. A smokey glass dome leaves the kitchen. The server removes the lid and smokes swirls the dish to uncover tender grilled octopus drizzled with pickled onions, roasted potatoes, and red berry sauce — $15.99.
In our progressive evening, the next course was fried burrata. The creamy homemade mozzarella oozes out. It is accompanied by a red sauce and toast points.
Keeping with the grilled mode, we ordered a Caesar. The Wood-grilled romaine has a charred flavor and topped with asiago, pecorino, parmesan cheese, lemon zest, and anchovies.
The server says everything is scratch-made.
Jeff had the Three Veal Meatballs Spaghetti & Spicy Pomodoro for $17.99. The meatballs were absolutely delicious and reminded him of his grandmothers Sicilian cooking.
I tried the Paradise pizza but switched out red sauce for roasted garlic and olive oil. Topped with sausage, kalamata olives, and arugula with truffle oil — $12.99. You can basically order any type of pizzas or chose one from the menu.
Under Entrees, you can order pasta like Asparagus Fettuccine Alfredo, Crispy Gnocchi with Clams, Champagne Shrimp Scampi, and Lobster Ravioli.
There is also Zucchini & Yellow Squash Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Marsala and Chicken Piccata.
So, we didn’t eat the Pork Chop but we had to take a picture. I’m sure it won’t be long until we go back.
The menu continues with a Ribeye Steak and Rack of Lamb. Under seafood: Smoked Orange Salmon, Wood Fire Snapper and Lobster Risotto with Scallops, $20 – $29.99.
Caramelized Goat Cheese, Chocolate Meltdown, Tiramisu, and Cannoli.
