Craving a grilled cheese, Jeff says hey I know a place called The Yard.
There are several locations in Pittsburgh, but he wanted to show me Shadyside, a quaint neighborhood by the universities.
Once downstairs you’ll see the list of microbrews. Brick-walled bar with TVs. And, a packed house.
Our server, Abby went over the menu and told us all about the bottomless Bloody Mary Bar and Basically Bottomless Mimosa’s. Available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
I decided to order the official grilled cheese of the Pittsburgh Penguins. It was called the Mac Attack Grilled Cheese. Basically, a grilled cheese topped with macaroni and cheese served on Texas Toast with seasoned homemade chips and tomato soup. Did I mention large? I could only eat a few bites. The soup was tasty. Grilled cheeses are half-priced on Thursday night from 9 p.m. – Midnight.
OK. There are healthy options, too.
The menu is divided by Field of Greens, Soups and everything in between.
Jeff tried the pancake sandwiched between sausage and eggs with a side of hash browns. This is a good place to watch the game, drink a beer or Bloody Mary and enjoy elevated bar food.
