After a long day of walking, swimming and sunbathing we decided to relax and enjoy the view that only Belforte in Vernazza Italy could offer. The food is wonderful. The staff is amazing. The restaurant is carved out of an old stone fortress. Pictured above is one of Belforte’s specialties – fresh fish Belfort’s style. The catch of the day is prepared in a salt crust, mixed grills, shrimp and salt — all showcasing the freshness of the fish.
For non-fish lovers there is a variety of homemade pasta. The most popular dish is the Tagliatelle with lobster for two. The winner of the Ligurian 2014 Best Dish Award is their Squid ink tagliolini with shrimp and seaweed. There are also vegetable accompaniments, meat and cheese trays.
After we finished three courses we had to try dessert. The waiter suggested his favorite. The pan-fried strawberries with ice cream. He prepared this tasty treat tableside. It was Belforte’s take on cherries jubilee. We also had the cake with mascarpone cream, panna cotta, and lattes all around. Belforte definitely checked all the boxes. Would highly recommend this family-owned restaurant.
