New on the Ft. Myers food scene is Deep Lagoon Seafood. The Phelan Family – the name behind Pinchers, Texas Tony’s and Randy’s Fish Market have a coastal casual cuisine concept in this spot. The family has operated restaurants in Southwest Florida for 31 years.
They partner with Island Crab Company to bring in fresh fish from hogfish to grouper, Mahi, snapper, and more. King Salmon, Lobster and, Snow Crab also top the fresh market list. They make it easy. You pick the seasoning and preparation. Or, you can order something from the Raw Bar or a Signature Dish.
For starters, we had the lobster bisque made with lobster stock, sherry, cream and spices and New England Clam Chowder full of clams, potatoes, onions, and celery. Both were creamy and delicious. We split a house salad with homemade Bleu Cheese Dressing.
Jeff had the Stuffed Hogfish with lump crab stuffing topped with a hollandaise sauce, be sure to ask for extra lemons. Served with rice pilaf and fresh green beans.
I had the Cedar Plank Salmon glazed in a bourbon sauce and served with sweet potato croquettes and fresh grilled zucchini and squash.
Both of our fish dishes were prepared perfectly and served hot to the table. The vegetables were al dente which was perfect and you could tell they were fresh. I might order a baked potato next time to substitute for the croquettes.
Other entrees at dinner include: Fish and Chips, Fried Oysters, Shrimp prepared the way you like, Surf & Turf, Captain’s Platter of shrimp, grouper, and scallops; Filet, Fried Clam Strips, Crab Cakes, and Chicken Marsala.
For pasta lovers, there is Shrimp Scampi over linguine, Pasta Primavera, Seafood Fra Diavolo, and Lobster Mac & Cheese. Dinner prices range from $18-$40.
Dining on the lighter side – check out one of their sandwiches, taco or order a couple of side dishes.
They have a nice selection on the Children’s Menu with all meals served with a drink, a side of fries or house salad. Prices are $7-$8.
Lunch and Happy Hour are also served.
We enjoyed the view, the atmosphere, the decor, and our server Jason from Worcestershire, England.
