The London Tea Room is just what my daughter Katie and I were looking for on a recent stop to St. Louis. Located one block from Tower Grove Park and the Missouri Botanical Garden this spot is quaint and offers a respite from busy daily life.

Whether you are there for breakfast, lunch or high tea you won’t be disappointed. As their website states, “for a truly English experience ask for Cream Tea. For $9 you will get a scone with Double Devon Cream and strawberry preserves and a pot of tea, your choice of loose leaf varieties.”

There is also pastries, cakes, Quiche, sandwiches and soup. Daily hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.

High Tea is served just down the hall and is $32.50 per person. That price includes tea sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, jams and curds, cakes and petit fours and loose tea. You must have a reservation for the tea room. Hours are Wednesday at 1 p.m.; Friday at Noon and 1 p.m.; Saturday at 11 a.m., Noon, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.; Noon, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. To book call 314-241-6556.

Tea and scone classes are available and sell out fast. All ingredients are provided. Classes are in the evening. Call ahead to save your spot.

Before leaving make sure to check out the retail portion of the store for teapots, tea towels, tea, and more.

The London Tea Room is owned and operated by a British family since 2007.
