When I want to feel getting a taste of Italy, I take myself to Casa Don Alfonso at the Ritz Carlton, in Clayton, Missouri. You get that European feeling with the cascading wisteria chandelier sculptures, hand-painted tile in the open kitchen, and lavender accents. The food is inspired by Mario Iaccarino’s childhood in Southern Italy. The service is superb. Dress is smart casual and reservations are highly recommended.

Casa Don Alfonso is available for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, Grab & Go, Espresso Bar, and Cocktails. Breakfast Buffet is also available on Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Sunday 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Endless Bellini’s and Bloodies for $50, additional.

On the ala carte Breakfast menu is the Mid-Western, The Ritz Carlton Eggs Benedict, Classic Bagel & Lox and Buttermilk Pancakes. Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The Breakfast Buffet features on Omelet Station, Mediterranean & Tramezzio and Avocado Toast, Hot Stations, Bread & Sweet Station and Parfaits.

Lunch is a great time to stop by with girlfriends or business gathering. They have a nice selection of salads, wood fired pizzas from Marghertia to Black Truffle with Mozzarella and Béchamel. The Menu says the sourdough is organic and gently proofed for 48 hours. Other highlights include the House Burger, Grilled Veggie Panini. If you are super hungry check out the Housemade Fresh Tagliatelle scented with citrus & shrimp, bisque and marjoram.

To start your dinner, try the Beef Carpaccio, Citrus & Lobster Salad. Share a pizza or pasta with your table. Grandma’s Ziti has anchovies from the Amalfi Coast, Cherry Tomatoes, Parsley, Chili Flake and Garlic. Second courses: Catch of the Day, Lasagna Napoletana, Tagliata Toscana – a 14oz. Prime New York Strip with Arugula, Parmigiana Reggiano, Tomato, and Balsamic Vinegar.

Pictured above is my favorite cocktail is the Amalfitana made with Don Julio Reposado, Campari, Fresh Grapefruit Juice, Fresh Lime Juice, Agave Nectar and San Pellegrino Aranciata. The craft cocktail list is something to check out for sure.
