When Ralph Centalonza III puts his name on a restaurant it is always a success – he’s got a new gem in DowntownCape Coral called Sage on 47th. It is named after his daughter, Sage.

Centalonza was an original founder of Rumrunners with Jeff Gately and Todd Johnson and Cork Soakers, both in the Cape.

His menus are different, but that is part of the fun.

Sage has a large front patio with comfortable sage-colored furniture and a greenery wall with champs in neon signage. Once inside, the floors are hardwood, the bar is long and the sage walls and Edison-inspired light fixtures surround you.

Check out the craft cocktails, like the one below. It’s called a Lori 75, named after his wife. Made with Peaflower Botanist gin, lemon, sage, simple & bubbles.

The menu is a mix of small plates, 7 different salads and about a dozen main courses.

For starters, check out the Oyster Crudo with Prosecco, shallot, pink peppercorn Mignonette, Killer Steak Bites, or Lamb Tartare with herbs, confit garlic, lemon, egg, capers and EVOO.

The salad selection has a House and Caesar then it branches out to Toasted Orzo, Cobb on 47th and Panzanella (not quite from Italy, but tasty). Protein can be added for a surcharge.

Under Mains: I loved the Airline Chicken cooked in brown butter, lemon, capers, garlic, shallots and served with grilled eggplant. The chicken was prepared sous vide and literally fell off the bone and had delicious flavor.

My friend had the Lamb Chops & Chips with Pistachio pesto and Yukon fries. She cleaned the plate and said, “We are coming back here.”

Other headliners include: Pappardelle and Bucatini hand made pasta from another Cape restaurant, NextDoor; Pork Cheeks with creamy polenta and a red wine veal gravy, wagyu skirt steak, seafood risotto and a lamb burger with sage aioli.

There’s a suggestion at the end of the menu to buy a chef a beer and be loved forever, $10.

Hours: Tuesday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Brunch served Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Monday.
